ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE HOEDSPRUIT WILDLIFE ESTATE

Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate

The estate is situated to the eastern side of Hoedspruit town just off the R 40, behind the Rock Fig lifestyle centre and within walking distance to the local shopping centre and Time Square business park. To the east of the estate lies the Hoedspruit Air Force Base, to the west the town of Hoedspruit, to the North lies Pridelands Game Reserve and to the South the game farm Welverdiend.

LOCATION AND HISTORY

The estate is 700 ha in size with 490 properties of 5 000 sqm each.

Only half of the estates land surface has been developed for housing whilst the remainder is kept undeveloped and referred to as green-belt.

The development started out targeting the second home market, owning a holiday home was made attractive through relaxed rules about renting out your property to other holiday makers. Short term rentals and AirBnb are allowed and many of the lodge type properties are either owner run holiday homes or are being serviced by local letting agencies such as Afrika Wildlife Homes.

Things to do

Game Drives

Self-driven or booked drives are possible on all the gravel and tar roads with exception of the perimeter patrol roads along the fence line.

For commercial game drives in the neigbouring Big 4 & Big 5 game reserves, such as Pridelands and including The Kruger National Park, try The Other Animals Safari, a safari operator who will pick you up from your lodge within the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate.

Horse riding

The estate has within its borders the African Dream Horse Stables and guided horse trails can be booked directly with African Dream Horse Safaris. Pre-booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Cycling

There are some exciting single track cycling routes in the estate which take you through the dry river system and to the bird hides in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate.
